Acceptance of these terms
By accessing the website, using the checker, or calling the detection API, you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
The service
PHP Version Checker reads public response headers and a limited portion of public homepage HTML to estimate the PHP version behind a website, its branch support status, and whether it appears to be patched against PHP2Shell. It also detects WordPress when public markers are present and may infer a minimum PHP requirement from the detected WordPress version.
Results are best-effort and depend on what a site exposes. The service may report a version as unknown, cannot determine, or low-confidence. Those results are part of the service, not a defect. The service does not guarantee that a site is secure or insecure, and it does not provide legal, security, or hosting advice.
Acceptable use
You agree to use the service lawfully and responsibly:
- Only check websites you own or are authorized to assess. A public URL is not by itself permission to test the site.
- Do not use the service to attack, overload, harass, or defraud a website or its users.
- Do not attempt to bypass rate limits, authentication, network restrictions, or the private-address protections.
- Do not use automated scrapers, bots, or scripts against the site beyond the provided bulk page and reasonable manual use.
- Do not resell the service, misrepresent its results, or present a check as a security certification.
- Do not use the service in violation of applicable law, including computer-misuse, privacy, and export-control laws.
We may block requests, restrict access, or change limits to protect the service, target websites, or other users.
Rate limits and availability
The public API allows up to 30 checks per minute per IP address. The bulk page accepts up to 20 URLs per batch and runs at most three checks at a time. Limits may change without notice. The service is provided without an uptime guarantee and may be unavailable because of maintenance, hosting issues, abuse prevention, or factors outside our control.
Third-party websites and data
When you check a URL, the service sends a request to a third-party website. That website may block the request, return an error, or log it under its own policies. We do not control third-party websites and are not responsible for their content, availability, or security.
Support dates and patch information come from public sources such as php.net, endoflife.date, and WordPress core files. The sources are linked on the relevant pages. Always confirm time-sensitive security information with the official source before acting.
No warranty
The service is provided “as is” and “as available” to the maximum extent permitted by law. We make no warranties, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted availability. A PHP version alone does not prove that a website is secure, and a “patched” result does not rule out other vulnerabilities.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, PHP Version Checker and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, goodwill, or business opportunities, arising from your use of or inability to use the service. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greatest extent permitted by applicable law.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the site operator from claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses arising from your misuse of the service, your violation of these terms, or your violation of another party’s rights.
Intellectual property
The site’s original text, design, and code are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. You may link to the site and use results for your own internal assessment. You may not copy, resell, or redistribute the service or its content as a competing product without permission. PHP, WordPress, Cloudflare, and other product names are trademarks of their respective owners, used for identification only.
Changes and governing law
These terms may be updated as the service changes. The effective date will be revised, and continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms. If a provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
These terms are governed by the laws applicable to the site operator, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot be limited under applicable consumer-protection law.
A plain-language note
These terms are a practical baseline for a free tool site, not legal advice. If you plan to add accounts, payments, advertising, or process personal data at scale, have the documents reviewed for your jurisdiction.
